Personal Life

BRIAN LORD’s PERSONAL LIFE

There’s more to life than working and studying to become an Electrical Engineer, which you forget when you love what you do; but the fact is, there is. Here’s some bits and pieces about Brian’s personal life.

FAMILY

Brian and his family reside in Echuca, Victoria, Australia. He is a family man, and spends most of his free time when not studying, fixing up the “Money Pit” that is “Lord’s Run” with his spouse and dogs. Occasionally they are visited by their parents, adult children (3) and spouses, partners and grand-children: Chelsea and Katie. These are the highlights of the week.

FARM

THE FARM “LORD’S RUN

Lord’s Run is a new venture for Brian & Kim with mainly cows, a couple of goats, a few sheep, wild ducks, lots of Australian Cattle Dogs, a large blue lake and an abundance of rabbits or it should be said …

DAMN WABBITS! (Bugs Bunny reference here.)

Just on the outskirts of Echuca, Lord’s Run is a little piece of paradise; slowly “it’s getting there”. It’s a work in progress.

Purchased a few years back after looking for nearly six years to find the worst house in the best location “Lord’s Run” was an accidental find in the local paper. Unfortunately or fortunately for Brian, the property was extremely run-down and let go for the previous 20-years. With saved capital Brian and his wife Kim are building it into the perfect piece of paradise right on the edge of Echuca.

The location is perfect! At night you see all the lights of echuca about 1 km away but you get the peace and quiet of country life. Lord’s Run is the best of both worlds!

HOBBIES

AUSTRALIAN CATTLE DOGS

Together, Brian and his spouse have a small Australian Cattle Dog (ACD) kennel (a name for a registered stud) following on with their lifelong love of this truly Australian and unique breed of working dog.

All their dogs are registered and pedigreed stud dogs, which they breed and train for shows; with mild successes. Lately due to the cost and work required building farm infrastructure the showing has had to take a back seat but as time permits, they’ll venture out again more often.

MUSIC AND SONG WRITING

Brian loves to play the guitar, sing, write and record music. Songs vary from Blues, Hard Rock, Rock and Rap to Country & Pop. He has been teaching music for over 30 years and performs as a solo or with a band on an irregular basis, only when he gets time and the stars align these days. In his live act he plays covers and country music using computer music sequencing and programming as his backing band.

HEALTH AND FITNESS

Recently Brian and Kim have hooked up with the NEXT Level Gym to regain fitness and establish their health for years to come.

TRAVELLING

Brian loves to travel and explore other people’s culture, music and art whenever he gets the chance. He has special fascination with Ancient Egypt and the Middle East, the USA Wild West and Outback Australia, where he worked FIFO for a time.

RENOVATING

Building and renovation; making things with his bare hands! ( I do recall a song called “My Bare Hands” 😉 Brian has a strong passion for DIYs, renovating, repairs, and home improvements and loves to make his house a special home for his family and friends to enjoy.

AFL, BOXING, BASEBALL, GOLF & FISHING

Brian was quite active and competitive, back in the day, 30-years ago but now he loves the spectacle of outdoor sports such as Aussie Rules Football or AFL (Australian Football League) and is a huge, one eyed Geelong Cats supporter.

Apart from AFL Brian is a long time Boxing fan with much memorabilia and information on the sport. Baseball and golf also share special places in his life at various times as well as a spot of fishing.
