PROFESSIONAL CAREER

… so far …

Brian started his career as a qualified Electrician in late January 1986 at the end of a 4-year apprenticeship at Nestle in Tongala, Victoria. He was lucky during trying times to win the apprenticeship at Nestle through a strong field of candidates and started it in late January 1982.

6-months after the successful completion of his apprenticeship, Brian’s employment contract ended at Nestle and so he ventured into the great unknown for an exciting journey with many different employers and varied types of electrical work over the last 30+ years.

TRADE LICENSES AND PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS

Brian has been a licensed “A” Grade Electrician since January 1986 and has added to that qualification over the years; for a time as an electrical contractor in the Bendigo, Central Victoria from 1990-1995. Based in Echuca, Victoria he currently holds both Victorian and NSW Electrician’s licences.

After studying hard in 2017-2018 Brian graduated from the Engineering Institute of Technology as an Associate Electrical Engineer and was awarded graduate of the year 2018 and is now currently studying his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with them.
Along his past 30+ year journey he has gained certifications in the construction industry OH&S Blue (WA) and OH&S Red Card (Victoria, NSW, and QLD) as well as many other licences and certifications that can be found in his detailed CV.

FORMAL EDUCATION

He attended Shepparton South Technical College, which is now known as Maguire College, for nearly 3 years (years 7 to most of year 9) from ’76 to ’79 after primary school. Then when the family shifted to Echuca in late ’79, Brian finished a third of year 9 and up to year 11 from ’79 to ’81 at Echuca Technical College, which  is now known as just Echuca College.

After winning the chance to complete an Electrical Mechanic’s apprenticeship at Nestlè in Tongala, 20-minutes from Echuca, Brian earned his “A” Grade Electrical Mechanic “Special Class” certification in ’86. During the same time  he attended an Industrial Electronics Certificate night course at Echuca College of TAFE in ’85.

ELECTRICAL TRADE EXPERIENCE

Brian has had many roles in many companies and organisations; working as an Electrician, Proprietor of an Electrical Contracting business providing professional electrical services to both commercial establishments and residential homes, Electrical Project Manager, Electrical Manager and Leading Hand Electrician as well.

His work experience has encompassed all types of electrical work from domestic and maintenance works to commercial,  industrial, rail and mining electrical works.

MEMBERSHIP OF PROFESSIONAL & TRADE ORGANISATIONS

Brian has been a member of several Electrical Trade organisations during his trade life but more recently he was very excited to be accepted as a graduate member of Engineers Australia; his title a Graduate (2nd Yr) Associate Electrical Engineer member.
